PRIMARY - Beginner level, recommended for ages 5-6 in their first years of dance. Dancers will learn basic technique and artistry in a fun and supportive environment. Dancers at this level will participate in our Nutcracker (Ballet) and our Year End Recital at the Tidemark Theatre.
NOVICE - For young dancers ages 6-7. This age group can choose to participate in our first year Performance Team Program by attending 2 weekly ballet classes, or dance in our recreational program with 1 weekly ballet class and/or the Jazz/Tap Combo class.
Novice Ballet dancers will participate in our Nutcracker, Performance Team dancers will participate in extra performances and competitions. All Novice dancers will participate in the excitement of our year end recital at the Tidemark Theatre.
EMERGENT PERFORMANCE TEAM - For dancers ages 7-9. This group of dancers will begin to train for Ballet exams, participate in competitions and extra performances. This program is designed to prepare dancers for a more focused competitive dance program. Dancers must register for 2 Ballet, Jazz and have the option of taking Tap.
JUNIOR PROGRAM - These classes are part of a competitive program for dancers aged 10-13. Dancers in this program must take 2 weekly ballet classes, a jazz class and it is recommended that they take the optional program classes to prepare for future participation in the Intermediate Program. Dancers in this program have the opportunity to audition for our Nutcracker Touring Company, will participate in Ballet Exams and the North Island Festival of Performing Arts, as well as up to 2 other Island dance competitions in the spring. Junior Team members will also participate in Unite in Dance January, our Season Premiere showcase at the Tidemark in February and the Year End Recital. This program is recommended for young dancers that love dance, love the stage and love to be part of a fun and supportive team!
INTERMEDIATE AND SENIOR PROGRAMS - Dancers at these levels are expected to take the full program of classes and will train at a level that will challenge, inspire and encourage. Options within the program must be discussed with the program director. Dancers in these levels will participate in Ballet Exams, multiple competitions, workshops and performances. Dancers have the option of auditioning for our Nutcracker Touring Company and working on solo and small group work with guest choreographers and SN instructors. Dancers in this program must make their studio classes a priority in their schedule and commit to being a part of an active competitive team.
RECREATIONAL CLASSES - These classes are designed for dancers who want to dance for fun and fitness. A great intro to different styles of dance and basic dance training. Dancers in these classes will participate in our year end recital at the end of the season.
